Forestry Construction: Fort Mountain Companies construction crew is then involved in the process by constructing access roads and log landings. This crew works closely with our forestry team to follow BMP's to maintain water & soil quality throughout the job. They also, will clean up the landing at the end of the job.
Mechanical Harvesting: Soon the mechanical harvester, also known as a "Timbco", is transported to the job site. This machine has the capability of cutting trees at an average rate of eight loads a day. A skidder or two, which transports the trees to the landing, will accompany the harvester. Our skidders have the capability of hauling 5-8 tons of tree length wood per hitch. There is a processor on the landing which will cut the trees into log length products to be shipped or to be chipped for fuel.
Transportation: We maintain our own fleet of heavy duty trucks, log trailers, and chip vans to move the processed wood to the mill in a timely manner.
World Marketing: The wood that Fort Mountain Companies harvests is distributed to local and worldwide markets. We regularly communicate with customers in our backyard and throughout the world. Our Allenstown office has a log concentration yard.
